Why today has been okay

Today has been a Monday all the way. With the exception of European museum workers (who generally seem to get Monday's off), I doubt there is a soul on the face of the planet who looks forward to Mondays. So, when a Monday is crappy it only makes an already bad day worse. However, rather than complain, I'm looking today for the good things:

1. I woke up this morning to the ringtone "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey. I almost had a smile on my face when it went off (which is something since I don't usually wake up very happy). Christmas is coming...
2. I filled up my car this morning at $2.14 per gallon! I could have danced away from the pump I was so thrilled. Actually, I could have gotten $2.09 at the Sinclair next door, but I decided since it was such a deal I would spring for the good stuff and get Chevron.
   
3. It was rainy. Normally this would be kind of depressing, but I enjoyed it today. It felt cozy.
4. I have wonderful co-workers.
5. I'm stopping at Target on my way home. Enough said.
   
6. I am looking forward to yet another installment of Pushing Daisies tonight. I'll be working from home anyway, so the innovative shot angles, clever dialogue and charming Ned will be a much appreciated comfort blanket.
7. I leave for Thanksgiving break two weeks from today. And not a moment too soon.

So all in all, I guess it's been a pretty good day. I hope I will be able to say the same thing for Tuesday.

Another Prize Winning Halloween Costume

Another Halloween has come and gone at my place of employment. People don't take Halloween lightly around here, and working with so many party-inclined people, it means it's a day with high fun and low productivity.

Starting at 1:00 the children of my co-workers came trick-or-treating from office to office. They were adorable and I was grateful for Halloween for creating a holiday that allows me interaction with four year old princesses, mummies and bumble bees.

Hereafter ensued the annual costume parade. This is where I would like to add that last year I did win $50 for my rendition of a can of Diet Coke (the lifeblood of the agency). See photo.


This year the top grand prize went to two guys who came as Ghost Busters. They bought an old beater car, painted it white, did the logo on the side, read lights on the front - everything. Then they ran through the front doors in their perfectly matched suits and sprayed silly string from their packs. Amazing.

As for me and my friends, we did a throw back to yesteryear by coming as Tetris pieces. We had a dance, played the theme music and got to wear sweat suits all day long. I've never been so comfortable at work. See photo.


After the costume parade we had the 'Fear Factory' - you had to spin a wheel to find out which hole in a wall you were going to have to stick you hand through to retrieve a prize. Prizes were buried among disgusting things such as slugs, maggots, worms, spiders, cow stomach and blood. All real. All disgusting.
